“The Training helps me to see my future”
Prescillah and her friends Manuella, Howard and Teklay were participants on the on job training organized by the World Scout Bureau Africa Support center, held in Nairobi Kenya. When Prescillah came into the program she only Know the theoretical aspect of management.
The On Job training involved 4 participants from Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. Like Prescillah All of the Participants were their first times to participate on such kind of training.
The Training was held in the compound of WSB-ASC. Each week the trainers was introduced with the various Policies, strategies and activities of scouting at worldwide level, the project and event planning and management, financial management, volunteer- professional relationship in scouting, public image building and communication.
During the training sessions on various issues, Prescillah and her friends actively participated and shared their own experiences among themselves. As the participants are represented their NSO from various positions (executive committees and Project staff), it created favorable condition to share ideas. Not only on the training period, but they shared their experiences when they were preparing their foods together.
At the end of the first week, the participants had learned what the major challenges are facing in the process of running their offices, the various projects and events. and motivated and equips with dreams of supporting their respective NSO’s and enables the scouting activities to be accessible and benefiting many young boys and girls as much as possible and striving to contribute their own share to the achievement of the goal 2023.
Look at her now, she is equipped with sufficient knowledge and skill of running the office, managing the Projects in proper way and it also will help to effectively and efficiently host the African Youth Scout Conference and National Jamboree to be held on November 2017, at Harare, Zimbabwe.
