The 7th West African Scout Youth Forum took place at Contonu National Sports Stadium, Cotonou, Benin Republic from Tuesday 21st - 24th February, 2017.
The opening ceremony of the Forum witnessed the presence of several dignitaries in the Movement, including;
The Vice Chairperson of the World Scout Committee - Mrs Jemima Nartey,
The Chairperson of the African Scout Committee - Dr. Davis,
The Regional Director, World Scout Bureau - African Support Centre - Dr. Frederick Tutu KamaKama
Victor Atipaga - Member, African Scout Committee
Pamela Akplogan - Chairperson, African Scout Youth Forum.
The forum witnessed a great deal of trainings ranging from Messengers of Peace, Dialogue for Peace, U-report, and an orientation on Youth Forum Guidelines, etc.
The climax of the Forum was the restructuring of the West African Scout Youth Advisors through an electoral process which witnessed the entry of two new Youth Advisors (Adoli Latame and Abigail Edwin) as well as a change of the leadership of the team.
Given the engagement of the previous Chairperson and Secretary of the team (Pamela Akplogan and Solomon Etim), as Youth Advisors at the African Regional Level, they were replaced by Dade, Rapheal and Adoli Latame as Chairperson and Secretary respectively. The former are still serving in the team but mostly on advisory capacity.
Various resolutions and recommendations were developed and forwarded to the conference for approval.
