The 2nd day of the Jamboree began with a panel discussion about peace that was held at the Mayor’s Place opposite the John Paul II Place. The cornerstone of prolific Scouting is based on a foundation of excellent peace around the world. Scouting is a global movement with members from every continent across the whole world with a single calling and it is in every one us them to promote peace.

The discussion that was on "Scouting: a culture of peace and dialogue" shed more light on the definition and practices of peace dialogue and how Scouts can take an active role in promoting coexistence and tolerance among people at home, in schools and in their communities.

The session had five panelists that included; Joao Armando - the Chairperson and Jemima Nartey - the Vice Chairperson of the World Scout Committee, Frederic Kama-Kama - the Regional Director Africa, Pamela Akplogan - the Chairperson of the Africa Scout Youth Forum and Jude Assoti - the Trainer of Trainers on peace dialogue. Each one of them shared their perspectives on their understanding about peace.

It was an interactive forum with Scouts on peace. The young Scouts were eager to know more on what they can do to promote the call for peace, and especially what they should do as personal actions. The call to action was made to them and the same they were to make to other Scouts and citizens of good will. Examples were given of Ghana, Kenya and Niger who have some success stories that can be emulated by Scouts in order to take an active role in community peace actions.

Towards the end there was a round table disscusion by the scouts themselves as they interacted to further understand the concept of peace. They each came up with five ways of fostering peace in new ways. These they are to follow up and implement when they get home. At the end there was a cultural exchange experience as a number of different countries displayed their cultures to their fellow Scouts.

Scouts have long been known to be Messengers of Peace and this session simply goes are long way to confirm that. The program seeks to inspire every single Scout around the world to actively promote peace, interreligious, intercultural, intergenerational dialogue. We are Scouts and we are Messengers of Peace!
