1st World Scout Environment Education Course
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines had recently conducted the 1st World Scout Environment Education Course (WSEEC) at the Philippine Scouting Center for the Asia-Pacific Region, Makiling National Scout Reservation, Mount Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna on 1-5 June 2016, with the theme, 'Nature study is the key element in Scouting.'
The 1st World Scout Environment Education Course (WSEEC) is the pilot course of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines on Environment Education, after its adoption of the World Scout Environment Programme and slowly integrating it in its Youth Development Program in 2011. It highlighted the thrust of the BSP in reaffirming the importance and value of the environment in the Scout Method, the Scout Law and the educational principles of the Scouting Movement.
The WSEEC gathered key leaders, volunteers and professionals of the BSP in order to properly equip them with the technical knowledge and know-how about the World Scout Environment Programme, including its component programs, SCENES Centre and Scouts Go Solar (SGS). These leaders will be vital in the implementation of the program throughout the country.
The 1st World Scout Environment Education Course aims to stimulate exchange of ideas on environmental education and foster new working knowledge and strategies in the implementation of the World Scout Environmental Program (WSEP), as well as strengthen the SCENES Centres and Environment Partnerships.
Specifically, the WSEEC has the following objectives:

b. To provide a learning platform for the Local Councils, institutions and other stakeholders through this Course, for gaining variety of experiences and share understanding of the environment education activities with each other;
c. To provide and avenue and facilitate the exchange of ideas on the improvement and strengthening of the WSEP, SCENES Initiative, Scouts Go Solar and Environment Partnerships and Networks;
d. To create a network among the participations for collaboration, free exchange of ideas, best practices and other ways of helping each other towards the achievement of the goals of the Course and the fulfilment of the objectives of the BSP Strategy Map: Vision 2025.
In the culmination of the course, Acting Secretary General Wendel E. Avisado installed the participants as Local Coordinators of the World Scout Environment Programme for the different Local Councils and Scouting Regions of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
