Introduction
Following the resolution (CM Res 1607 (LXII)) of the Council of Ministers of the then Organization of African Unity (OAU) – now African Union (AU), meeting in its Sixty-Second Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, from 21st to 23rd June 1995, to set aside the 13th March as the Africa Scout Day, Scouts and Scouters throughout the region have been celebrating this day to take stock of the achievements of Scouting and building partnerships for more social impact in Africa.

Africa Scout Day Essay Contest
We invite all Scouts and Scout Leaders from across the Africa Scout Region to submit essays for the 2017 Africa Scout Day Essay challenge. The essay should be on the thematic topic of “How Scouting engages youth for active and responsible citizenship.” Be sure to capture clearly how it creates active citizens and provide real life examples and case studies where possible. The essay should not be more than 1000 words.
All essays must be submitted to africa@scout.org by Friday 17 March 2017 with the title of the email as {Africa Scout Day Essay Challenge 2017-YourName-YourCountry} . We will publish the best essays on Kudumail and on www.scout.org/africa. All top five essays will also be published on the website. Please include your photo, age and name of your NSO.
