Moldova Scouting was impacted by an inspiring Scout project ‘Re-Rovering’ – created by 4 Scouting friends who believed in an idea. ‘Re-Rovering’ came by as a response to the situation of stagnation in the growth of Rover Scouts (in terms of quantity) not only in Moldova, but in other parts of the Scouting world too. ‘Re-Rovering’ gathered 20 Rover Scouts, who had been selected from around the country, and was held from 10th to 17th July 2012. The event challenged the Rover Scouts through activities and programmes from Moldovan Scouting, and from Scouting in different countries around the world.

On the first day, the Rover Scouts had to present their homework, which was to answer 3 simple questions: what is a Rover Scout? What expectations do I have from Rover Scouting? What is my role in the Scout Movement? All other days involved workshops and meetings on the themes of Scouting Skills, Leadership and Communication. Innovation came out naturally, especially since trainers coming from outside of Scouting challenged the participants. Besides learning about the above-mentioned themes, every morning, Rover Scouts started with the training of their body and soul through meditation.

On Friday 13th July, everyone played the Witch Night game - a well-known team building activity amongst Scouts in Moldova. The last day of ‘Re-Rovering’ offered Rover Scouts the chance to create their own initiatives based on original ideas, wrote them down on paper and design possible future events and activities. When a final list of all these activities were made, a “Scout-Like” (similar to a Facebook ‘Like’) was put beside every event/activity that each Rover Scout found interesting. The top 3 events were selected based on the maximum number of ‘Scout-Likes’ and the Rover Scouts from ‘Re-Rovering’ will not only participate in these, but will also help organise the events.

The objectives of ‘Re-Rovering’ were met since a core team of Rover Scouts for the National Scout Organization (Moldova) had been created. These core Rover Scouts were now highly motivated and at the same time very skilled in leadership, communication and Scouting skills. Hence, a project put together by 4 Scout friends became a success at national level, with support from Moldovan Scouting and conducted in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America (USA).
