Youth Capacity Building Project at WREP

Youth Capacity Building Project at WREP (YCBP) has been developed by Scouts of Georgia in partnership with the Centre of Trainings and Consultancy (CTC) in response for the initiative of BP to support the youth capacity building at WREP communities.   The project duration was 2 years (May, 2010; July, 2012)
Two specific and one indirect objective were set to support achievement of the project goal:
1) Understanding of and improved capacity to cope with the environmental issues affecting target communities among the youth and community population enhanced;
2) Key competencies of the target youth groups enabling lifelong learning developed;
Indirect objective:
·       Organizational strengthening of the GOSM to reach out and engage youth from the diverse regions of Georgia.
One of the core approaches adopted by the project was targeting youth 13-16 years of age and equipping them with the necessary leadership skills, life skills, basic understanding of the key personal development needs and supporting their understanding of basics of the entrepreneurship.
Key achievements of the project:
ž45 rooms in 44 schools have been rehabilitated and prepared for the youth group activities;
žLeadership and World Scout Environment Programme trainings have provided 174 students with the leadership skills and prepared them for implementation of the WSEP activities; 
ž45 Youth Groups were created in all 44 schools;
ž1212 students have joined the youth groups over the project implementation period;
ž544 small scale environmental actions were organized by the youth groups;
ž44 Personal Development trainings were held by CTC, 512 students took part in the trainings;
ž10 Follow-up consultancies were provided to the trained youth;
ž89 micro-grant proposals have been developed by the youth groups and 60 micro-grants have been awarded;
ž60 micro-grant projects have been implemented by the youth groups;
ž2 Summer Camps drawing the examples of best practices, lessons learned and action plans for sustainability held for 173 participants;
ž40 teachers of the YCBP schools took part in Civic Education training course;
ž# of direct beneficiaries 1698
ž# of indirect beneficiaries 3396
