Balochistan Scout Leaders updated with new programmes
“Scouting is an added value to my personality to become a better leader. I will use this knowledge and encourage more female participation in Scouting in our country.” These were the words of female participant Dr. Syeda Kanza Kanwal in describing the Course for Assistant Leader Trainers (CALT), held on 10-17 October 2020, in Quetta, Balochistan.
Dr Kanwal is one of the 65 Scout leaders from ten associations all over Pakistan who participated in the course.
Largely tackled were WOSM’s new programmes and updates on Safe From Harm, Scouts for SDGs, Diversity and Inclusion, communication and partnership, membership and policy on Adult Training, along with traditional Scouting methods.
Saad Waqas described the course to be a mix of tradition and modern techniques which is a good combination to train more leaders, and contribute to the growth of Scouting in Pakistan.
Course leader and National Secretary of PBSA Sabir Hussain explained that after completing the course, participants became part of the national training and will cascade the learning and leadership in their respective provinces.
“We need to keep Scouting up-to-date and relevant with the needs of today’s young people and this course did exactly that,” he added.
