Mt Archer Cub Scouts Messengers of Peace Project

Mt Archer Cub Scouts sat around the room on the 7th August to disacuss what they could do to make a difference and help spread peace around our community. They decided that a lot of waste finds it way into our rivers and eventually into the ocean. This in mind about the marine life they decided to hold a clean up event in our city to reduce the amount of wadte that end up in our ocean if we have a flood event. The team at Clean up Australia hold an event every year called the Great Northern Clean Up. As Northern Qld is the most likely to have cyclones and terrantial rain events that cuases flooding. The event was held on the 17th of November and a group of Cub Scouts collected 40kgs of waste from the Fitzroy River Southside precinct. They are now proud to say that the 40kgs of wastge will not enter the waterways and effct our marine life.
