A one day Scouts Go Solar Badge training was arranged by the Rovers’ Club GCU on 2nd of May at Government College University, Lahore. Twenty-six rover scouts actively took part in the activity. The purpose of the training was to raise awareness among the young scouts regarding the usage and advantages of Solar Energy for constructive purposes. The training consisted of the activities such as Solar Cooking and making, assembling and circuiting of the Solar Torch.
Scout Leader Trainer, Mr. Farhan Saeed, from Divisional Public School, Lahore supervised the activity and shared his valuable experience. The students benefited greatly from Mr. Saeed’s expertise and patronage while learning and experiencing the mechanics behind Solar cooking and solar torch assembling and circuiting.
The participants cooked noodles and scrambled eggs in the parabola made out of television dish covered with the aluminum foil and was set up at an angle to focus the sunlight and seek maximum benefit out of its energy. All the participants availed the opportunity of experiential learning.
