Century of Scouting
Thousands of scouts, hundreds of memories, one celebration.
Well, who wouldn't want to be a part of this historical event right? Not just because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity but this also serves as a nationwide celebration for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. As it goes beyond a hundred years of service to the youth through its projects, activities and events, scouts all over the archipelago merge to become part of the Philippine Scouting Centennial Jamboree 2014.
With 3500 scouts from the Visayas leg, 5000 scouts from the Mindanao leg and 13400 scouts from the Luzon leg, the said event took place in continuous dates and places. Luzon's camping ceremonies was held at Marikina City last Nov. 4-8, 2014; Visayas' was held at Cebu City last Nov. 7-11,2014; and Mindanao's centennial jamboree was at Zamboanga City last Nov. 9-13 ,2014.
Our council, Cabanatuan City which is included in the Luzon leg is so honored to be part of this event. Even though with just more than 50 scouts, everyone of us know that the experiences and memories that we shared will be treasured in our scouting lives, granted that we are part of history. Aside from the stories that we can share to other scouts, the experiences that we had, the activities that we attended, the new friends that we met and the lessons that we learned, the opportunity given to us to join this commencement is one thing that we will never forget.
Five days of camping will always be short for us, especially with all the fun that occurred but with that time span, all the things that happened are worth sharing and worth keeping to our family, friends, fellow scouts and even to the next generation. For sure, in the next Philippine Scouting Centennial Jamboree which is likely to come on 2114, we will still be remembered as the first 100th generation and who knows, our great grandchildren may be part of it.
