National Youth Program Dissemination

The Ghana Scout Association has embarked on a project to review its Youth Program handbooK as well as strengthening its Messengers of Peace project. The project has been divided into four phases for which the Youth Program book will be completed.
The Ghana Scout Association (GSA) has been a beneficiary of the Global Support Team of the World Scout Bureau, which 2011 has yielded improvement in its institutional development, Youth Involvement and profile development.
Though there has been a lot of improvements there is still a need to complete GSA’s Youth Programme to aid in the delivery of quality scouting in order to meet Dimension 08 (Youth Program), a major non-conformity area as per the Global Support Assessment Tools. There is need to complete the review process of the Youth Programme and proceed with its dissemination which also constitute a technical capacity development of adults leaders through expected to support the delivery of the Youth Programme.
In order to involve more young people and grow the MoP Network by training more National MoP coordinators to expand and globalize the MoP Network.

The first phase which was Youth Program Review work drew twenty scouts involving the National Executive Committee members,Regional Commissioners and National Youth Advisors. The previous youth program was looked at and there were inputs as to what should be reviewed.Participants indicated that the various books should be more user friendly with illustrations.
The second phase of the project was",strengthening of Messenagers of Peace in Ghana".This project was undertaken in Tamale in the Northern part of Ghana. All Messengers of Peace coordinators across the country were part of the workshop.Donation was made to one of the deprived communities around Tamale. The program was very successful because there was full participation of scouts and the community.
The third phase of the project which is,Editorial Committee workshop is underway where the various sections of the scout books are being edited section by section.
The Youth program book has now been edited. It was presented to the National Scout Council at a Special Annual General meeting and was accepted by all.A Youth program orientation was held for adult leaders to explain the contents of the hand book and its usage.
