Porject: ALIVEbrary

ALIVEbrary is an initiative of Marikina Rover Scouts Circle 56 that intends to renovate a community library in Barangay Banaba Extension in the Municipality of San Mateo Rizal, a close neighbor of our city. The said library is a sole project of Kagawad Nestor Pasco. Our hearts were touched because of his dedication to his community, especially the young ones. He humbly built a very simple structure and gathered old books. Own sweat, blood and tears. Own money and hard work. This serves as our pilot project for our campaign named WITNESS that is focused on community development.
ALIVEbrary is the most ambitious project of our circle to date. It requires big number of volunteers and heavy funding. Rover Scouts Circle 56 is a community based institution and funding would be a challenge to us. We’ve planned to tackle the concern with various fund raisers and promote the WITNESS campaign to gather as much support as we can. We worked and prayed. And God have been faithful to us and provided us a strong partner in this project. On a rainy Saturday after of July, we’ve been introduced to Golden Grip Universal Foundation. ALIVEbrary is became bigger and stronger.
Golden Grip Universal Foundation gave their commitment to our circle for the project. They provided all the necessary materials for the entire renovation of the library. But support and blessings started to pour. They also provided refreshments for the inauguration.
After two months of preparations, ALIVEbrary started to become a reality. The actual renovation started August 26, 2017 with a Groundbreaking Ceremony. Together with Kagawad Nestor Pasco, our dear Tita Megan Ip (President, Golden Grip Universal foundation) with her family, Senior Scouts of Nangka High School and the rest of the Rover Scouts Circle 56 started working on site. It was a challenge because of the typhoon during that time, but because of God’s provisions we’ve been provided a cool weather without any rain that day.
Finally, ALIVEbrary was inaugurated on September 3, 2017. We gathered 100 children from the community and gave them loot bags and played some games with them. After the mini children’s party, we had a formal ceremony. The ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted with Kagawad Nestor Pasco, Tita Megan Ip and our Institurional Head Omero Muriel. The children are very excited to go inside the library and start reading books. The noise of happy kids are so priceless.
ALIVEvrary is not yet over, we gave our commitment to Kagawad Nestor and the rest of the community in Barangay Banaba Extension that we’ll continue to have programs for them. Golden Grip Universal Foundation also gave our circle a commitment. They will be our new Sponsoring Institution and will be an avid supporter of our advocacy and ventures.
