THE TANZANIA SCOUTS CENTENARY JAMBOREE CELEBRATIONS IN DODOMA
Greetings from Tanzania Scouts Association!
Tanzania Scouts Association will celebrate its Centenary Jamboree from July 21st to July 29th, 2017 in Dodoma, the Capital City of Tanzania which is centrally located. It gives me a great pleasure to invite scouts, scouters, friends of scouts and stakeholders to participate in this historical and memorable event which is expected to attract more than 4000 scouts from inside and outside of Tanzania. The Tanzania Scouts Association Centenary Jamboree celebration will take place at the University of Dodoma premises which is located about 25 kilometres from town Centre of Dodoma in the place called Ihumwa.
The location of Dodoma is easily accessible through Air, Road and train.
Participants coming from outside Tanzania and wish to fly from their respected countries are advised to land at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), you can also arrange a local flight from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, [duration 45 minutes to 1 hour].
Participants who wish to use public buses to Dodoma are requested to inform the Association as early as possible to ensure your bookings and other logistics as there are so many buses travelling from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma. The cost of these buses range from TZS 30,000/= to 50,000/= which is equivalent toUSD 15 to USD 25. It takes about 10 to 15 hours.
This is safe and cheapest mode of transport which the Association is advising to the participants who will be travelling in groups. The cost ranges from TZS 20,000/= to TZS 40,000/= depending on the classes which are third, second and first. If there is any one intending to travel with Train from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma please inform the Association so that we can do the booking as this train doesn’t travel every day to Dodoma.
Due to the importance of this event, the Tanzania Scouts Association has agreed to accept the following age categories:
(i) Cub Scouts Age 08 – 10 years old
(ii) Junior scouts Age 11 – 12 years old.
(iii)Senior scouts Age 12 – 14 years old.
These groups will participate as participant.
(iv) Rover scouts Age 18 – 26 year old: This age category will participate as unit leaders and service team.
(v) All participants above 26 years old will participate as Adult leaders as well as service team (ISTs)
(vi) Participants from outside Tanzania should be at least 14 years old and above to qualify the participation.

For Junior and senior scouts, accommodation will be at the University of Dodoma students’ hostels, while Rovers, ISTs, and other interested Adult leaders will be accommodated in the tents.
As the availability of tents is limited the participants are encouraged to take their own sleeping equipment which will include tents.
(i) Participants from Africa Region will pay USD 70
(ii) Participants from outside Africa Region will pay USD 100.
The participation fee will cover meals from 21st July 2017 up to 29th July 2017, inland transport during campsite program, event t-shirt, name tag and jamboree badge.

It is important to know that the Centenary fees will not include transportation to and from your country.
Also, organizing committee has allowed the participants to pay their fees upon arrival.
Participants from East Africa Community do not require visa to enter
Tanzania. However, participants from outside East Africa countries and
other part of the World will be granted visa on arrival at the following entry
points; Julius Nyerere International Airport (JKNIA).
The cost of visa is USD 50.00
All participants who intend to participate in this exciting big event, are humbly encouraged to fill the confirmation form (attached) and return to the Association through its email, email@example.com before 10th July
THINGS TO CARRY:
Participants are advised to have scout uniform, sports costumes and attire, light shoes for hiking, casual wear, towel, sandals, washing and bathing soap, tooth brush & paste, sweater or jacket, sleeping bag, bed sheet, blanket and torch.
The weather of Dodoma in July is warm and windy in the afternoon and cold at nights.
ACCOMODATION IN HOTELS
For other participants who would like to stay in the hotels will be required to inform the Association who will arrange the bookings and other logistics.
While in the Campsite, Association will organize for the inland transportation as per the day to day program. For those who will need private transport, will be advised to contact the transport committee which will help to organize the transport under your own cost.
If there is any scouts, who wants to have home hospitality before and after the event, you are mostly welcome by sending your request to the Association explaining what kind of home hospitality would you like. Please see the attached document.
It is recommended to arrange the travel and medical Insurances. Please carry medicines which you may need in emergency.
