The UN wants to hear from you - Global Action Week!

The United Nations are conducting their biggest survey in the history of the UN in order to gather the opinion of the world regarding the future goals, that will replace the current Millennium Developemt Goals (MDGs). Scouts are partnering with the MY World Survey and you can help!

This week is a Global Action week for My World and a perfect opportunity for you to get involved! First step is to vote yourself, next step is to get your family and friends to vote and the final challenge is to get your follow citizens to vote.

What is most important for you and your family? Better healthcare, access to clean water and sanitation or maybe it is phone and internet access? Choose 6 out of 16 options and make sure your voice is heard — the UN wants to hear from you!

In the year 2000 the leaders of the world made a commitment through the Millennium Development Goals and have since then been fighting extreme poverty and promoting universal primary education as two of the 8 MDGs. We are now reaching the end of the campaign as 2015 is approaching with steady speed. The MDGs has helped the world and the UN to prioritize their work and improve the conditions for millions of people around the world. Scouts have also used the MGDs in their work and they have been part of the thematic framework for the Scouts of The World Award.

But what happens after 2015?
The UN has now started a process to figure our what are the priorities of the world and what should be the focus of the future. To give the possibility of all men and women to be heard, the UN has started the initiative "My World" which is a survey that gives the opportunity to be heard. The survey can be done online, by paper ballot and though the phone.
Three weeks ago I represented WOSM at a meeting in the UN where it was discussed how Scouts and other key partners can help the survey to be even more inclusive and promote participation in it. The meeting also celebrated that MY World has reached 1.5 million participants and looked into how this number can continue to grow. I count on my fellow brother and sister scouts to help us provide the input that is needed for this important process.

You can help by completing the survey though the scout gateway at You can help even more by spreading the survey to your network or help other people do it. This is your chance to tell the leaders of the world how you see the future and how you want the world to prioritize its resources.
