Wednesday, 27 November 2013 - The Standard of adult training for 44 Vietnamese Scout Leaders from different groups is enhanced when they flew to Manila, Philippines for the Course for Assistant Leader Trainers at Mt Makiling in Laguna, Philippines.
This Course is designed for Vietnamese Scout Leaders who have completed the three Advanced Unit Leaders Training Courses held in 2010 and 2011 respectively and have completed their Wood Badge, a training sponsored by Bill Philips from Ecuador, an avid supporter of Scouting in Vietnam.
The Training of Trainers Course level one aims to strengthen and capacitate leaders as Trainer and Leaders of Basic Course for Unit Leaders, with view to deliver quality youth programme for more Scouts and young people in Vietnam.
This Course is initiated by WOSM APR in partnership with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines for Scouting Expansion and support to potential NSO. It is headed by Dr. Irma O. Ejanda as Course Leader; Yasser F. Sarona and Bernando G. De Leon served as Assistant Course Leaders with other trainers Dr. Edith L. Padama; Geronimo D. Tolosa; Baltazar M. Gayem; Dr. Evelina M. He said, “I have been in Scouting for 60 years and I still need more knowledge and have a warm heart to serve other people.” He has published a book on Vietnamese Scouting from 1930 – 2012 and he is preparing another book to commemorate 85 years of Vietnamese Scouting in 2015. He believes that the Vietnamese government in the near future will recognize Scouting. There are now more than 6,000 Scouting Members in Vietnam.
The Training closes on 3 December 2013 with Action Plan developed by the participants.
