WELCOME FRIENDS TO THE FAMILY…………….. Let me open with the mark ‘CONGRADULATION’ to all the scouts of Sengdhyen Lower Secondary School for successfully completing the scouting course and joining the family of World Organization for Scouting Movement and Bhutan Scout Association in particular. Each one of your presence in the family would mean a great difference and you will always be a part of transforming our young generation that is today’s youth. It is always a pride and proud moment for all of us when we achieve something. The day of achievement becomes a important or the significant day in our live which we want to capture it as a best moment. Similarly on 9th November, 2013 too is a significant day in the Sengdhyen School as 25 scouts receives scarves and membership badges after undergoing a course of around 7 months. It was around 9:00 am when Chief Guest for the Scout Investiture ceremony arrived in the ground. This year the investiture ceremony was done in a very different way whereby we adopted an army style of doing it. The drill itself was based on the army style and not like an ordinary march past that we always do in our schools. Everybody was sworn with an smile on their face and smartly dressed for the very occasional celebration of their achievement. Firstly we received the chief guest for the day i.e. Our Principal and all the teachers and other students. Immediately after reception the three important flags which comprises of National Flag, School Flag and WOSM Flag were hoisted along with General salute followed by national Anthem and camp Anthem. Than the scout master offered a Marchang to all the doctrine protector and deities to appease them and seek protection for the whole day to not have any sort of problems or obstacles. After the Marchang ceremony the welcome address was given and then the chief guest showered his wits and wisdom to the scouts who were presented there. He firstly congratulated all the scouts for their achievement and secondly highlighted on importance of scouting and being role model to others after joining it. It was then followed by the two speeches from the scout members’ side which highlighted on the day and next presented the course report to the gathering. Then the moment of pride finally arrived when the Troop leader commanded attention and oath sign whereby everybody took an oath to be role model, to respect the god, country and parents. Then the patrol leader of the different patrol started commanding attention, follow me, up salute… and then receiving scarves one by one. Everybody was emotional when the new, sainted scarves were sworn around their neck and membership badges were awarded by Principal and Vice Principal. Here I can sense the happiness and sense of pride within myself saying ‘YES I HAVE DONE IT’ from every member of the scouts. After the presentation of scarves and membership badges the few cultural items were presented so as to celebrate the day in gay. Within the few days of practice itself scouts have proved that nothing is impossible to the willing heart. The drill was performed in the beautiful manner and the cultural items were worth watching. The day ended with a photograph with the chief guest everybody said ‘cheese’ when the photographer snapped the photograph. After that the flags were lowered for the day. I would like to finally thank Principal, Vice Principal for their support and all the teachers and students for their everlasting cooperation which made this event a grand success. Above all within and inner I along with all the scouts would like to thank our Unseen protectors who have protected us from all the obstacles and problems throughout the day. Lastly I silently prayed for the wellbeing of all saint beings and HAPPY SCOUTING TO ALL. Yonten Norbu (SCOUT MASTER)
