MANILA, Philippines – The Asia-Pacific Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement has released on Monday the winners of its 16th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Photo Contest. This year’s contest highlights the centenary of Rover Scouting with the theme “Rover Scouting, A Pursuit for Life”.

Edwin Lam Zhen De (Malaysia) bagged the gold prize for this year’s photo contest.

Haerudin Nomi (Indonesia) and Chen Po Hung (Taiwan) shared the spot for the silver prize. Meanwhile, the bronze prize was awarded to Sarwar Mohammad Shahriar (Bangladesh), Raminesh Jattan (Fiji) and Amar B. Chettri (India).

“This contest is not just about capturing priceless moments or getting good photos. More importantly, this photo contest is our way of highlighting our Scouts and giving life to Scout stories across Asia. Through these photos, we are telling and showing the world about the work that we do, the work that Scouting has been doing and continues to do to create positive change,” said J. Rizal C. Pangilinan, Regional Director of the Asia-Pacific Region.

This year’s instalment of the photo contest is the biggest of its kind since it was first conducted in 2003. The secretariat received a record-breaking 160 entries from 14 National Scout Organizations.

The winners were adjudged by volunteers and professional photographers in Japan headed by Mr. Takeyoshi Tanuma, Director of the Japan Professional Photographers Society.

The winners will be presented with their respective awards during the 26th APR Scout Conference in Manila on 15-20 October 2018. The winning entries will be used in all major regional publications, both online and in print.
