World Scout Conference and Youth Forum registration now open
With the virtual 42nd World Scout Conference and 14th World Scout Youth Forum now less than 100 days away, I am pleased to share that registration for the events is now open until 15 July 2021.
Registration for the Conference and Youth Forum is by invitation only. Delegations for the Youth Forum can be up to 6 people, including a maximum of 2 delegates and 4 observers who must be between the ages of 18 and 27 at the time of the event. Delegations for the Conference can be up to 20 people, including a maximum of 6 delegates and 14 observers. All registered delegates and observers must be approved by International Commissioners or National Scout Organization (NSO) Official Contacts as recorded in the World Scout Directory.
Each delegation to the Conference and Youth Forum should ideally include the following roles:
- Head of Delegation - this person is responsible for leading the delegation and will receive guidance, training and credentials to access the Conference and Youth Forum e-voting system. Support will be provided to the Head of Delegation to deal with contingencies such as lack of Internet connectivity, in particular during the e-voting process.
- Delegates - these individuals form the core of the delegation with the right to take part in discussions and to vote.
- Observers - these individuals are able to participate in all aspects of the events and can join in discussions, but do not have the right to vote.
- Ambassador – this person is a voluntary appointment and helps to ensure delegations are prepared to have an effective and meaningful participation in the events.
Young people under the age of 30 and females should be included in all delegations to ensure that the diversity of our Movement is reflected at the events. NSOs are also strongly encouraged to register their Youth Forum delegation as part of their Conference delegation to ensure a strong involvement of young people in decision-making.
The World Scout Committee has decided to make the cost to participate in the Conference and Youth Forum free of charge, taking into account the economic impact of the pandemic. Member Organizations are encouraged during the registration process to make a voluntary contribution to the Re-Energising Scouting Fund which will be facilitated through the Scout Donation Platform to support NSOs with their COVID-19 recovery efforts.
Registration for the Conference and Youth Forum will be managed through an integrated online system to enable NSOs to easily register their delegations. NSO Official Contacts will soon receive a special invitation and instructions by email to register their delegations for the Conference and Youth Forum by providing the name, date of birth and email address of each participant. Once complete, each participant will then receive an individual invitation by email to complete their registration, including agreeing to the event Code of Conduct and completing the Safe from Harm courses. Invited partners, special guests, and members of the World and Regional Scout Committees will also receive a separate individual e-mail to register for the events.
Live-streaming will be available for all main plenary sessions so that more people can tune-in and follow the events. English and French will be the official languages of the Conference and Youth Forum, with simultaneous interpretation to the other WOSM working languages available during the main Conference plenary sessions.
Yours in Scouting,
World Organization of the Scout Movement
