8th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Photo Contest winners

At the 8th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Photo Contest, the photo entry “Nothing is Impossible” photographed by Frederick Bonifacio from the Philippines bagged the Gold Prize from among the 125 entries received from nine countries, namely, Australia, Scouts of China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore.

Two silver prizes went to the Scout Association of Japan and Scout Association of Hong Kong and three bronze prizes for Korea Scout Association, Scouts Australia and Bharat Scouts and Guides.

Winners were judged by a panel in Japan headed by Mr Takeyoshi Tanuma, President of the Japan Professional Photographers Society after the pre-screening by another group of professional photographers in the Philippines last February.

All the winning entries will be used in our regular publications like calendar and posters and presentation of awards for the winners will be done at the 7th APR Scout Leaders Summit in Bangalore, India this June 2010.

Theme for this year was “Community based Scouting” to increase awareness and expansion 
of Scouting in various communities like children in difficult circumstances, neighborhood Scouting, among others.

Last year, the regional office received 43 entries from five countries following the theme “Scouts reaching Out.” Gold Prize winner was Selim Newaj Bhuiyan of Bangladesh Scouts.
