Cub Scouts celebrate World Children’s Day

The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) through the Cub Scout Section celebrated World Children’s Day 2019 as one of the initiatives and commitment of the country in ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in December 1995, yesterday.

The guest of honour, Chief Commissioner of PPNBD Haji Awang Badar bin Haji Awang Ali, also participated in activities with Cub Scout members.

Over 150 Cub Scout members from eight government and private primary schools participated.

Headquarters Commissioner of Cub Scouts Section Hajah Noraini binti Haji Saidi who is also 1080 Cub Scout Pack Leader from Orang Kaya Besar Imas Primary School, Subok said the main objectives of the celebration were to entertain children from the Cub Scout members who are registered under the PPNBD with fun activities including congkakteng-tengbatu Seremban, hula hoop, skipping, main getah and dam.

The celebration was also enlivened with skills and efficiency activities including building block, moving bridge, Beyblade battle, face painting and an exhibition showcasing Cub Scouts activities badges and newspaper clippings of activities carried out by Cub Scout.

The event’s objectives were to create awareness among the community to protect the rights and future of children as well as in ensuring children’s holistic development in physical, cognitive, language, social, emotional and spiritual.

It is also helped to produce a dynamic, progressive, active, disciplined and innovative generation and a nation of admirable, brilliant, talented and credible personalities.

The celebration can create Cub Scout members who are aware of the love and respect to scout leaders and the assistant scout leaders towards them.

Executive scout officer, Cub Scout leaders and assistant Cub Scout leaders as well as family members were also present.
