MoU Between the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots and the Interamerican Region.
Killers Robots Campaign might seem something brought up in futuristic movies like Terminator, but in fact nowadays is a reality. Not to be afraid but rather is how far technology has brought us.
Why is this a problem? And Why there is a need of a Campaign? Well fully autonomous weapon would decide who lives and dies, without further human interconnection, which crosses a moral threshold. As machines, they would lack the inherently human characteristic such as compassion that are necessary to make complex ethical choices.
The Campaign to Stop Killer Robots is an Organization, comprised by various other organizations, but they look to control o band fully autonomous weapons for the moral threshold they represent to human beings. Today the Interamerican Region and the Campaign are signing are MoU for collaboration in the frame of promote education and joint actions within the topic among Scouts. The JamCam 2020 was the venue for this MoU, taking advantage of the exposition that Stop Killer Robots Campaign is having in the Interamerican Development Villa.
The first action among the MoU is going to be to promote a badge designed for Scouts who take the Online training with the Stop Killer Robots campaign. We will be posting the upcoming months more information on how and who are going to be able to access it.
