The World Organization of the Scout Movement is saddened by the news this past Easter weekend when on Sunday, April 21, 2019 a series of coordinated attacks were carried out at several hotels and churches in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa in Sri Lanka killing more than 290 people and injuring another 500 individuals.

World Scouting extends its deepest sympathies and prayers to the victims and loved ones of the atrocious attacks, including the family and friends of Scout Leader Mr. Miyuru Yasakelum of Colombo District who worked at the Shangri-La hotel and lost his life while on duty.

World Scouting firmly condemns these acts of violence and continues to advocate for the values of peace in solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Scout Association, and the Scouting community across the country.
