Celebration of 5th National Scout Day, Trongsa

5th National Scout Day celebration (21st Febraury, 2019)

Date:                           21st February, 2019

Venue:                        Sherubling CS ground

Participants:             1500 Scouts, 55 Scout leaders, 67 leadership scouts, more than 300

guests including community people

The Dzongkhag Scouts Association of Trongsa and BSA jointly coordinated the program for the celebration of 5th National Scout Day celebration dzongkhag coinciding with the joyous occasion of His Majesty birth anniversary at Sherubling CS ground. This grand celebration of the day marked the first ever national celebration led by scouts in the dzongkhag. The celebration of  precious day as the National Scouts Day had gathered unexpected crowd in offering the prayer of gratitude for His Majesty long live.

The grand celebration of the day was organized to achieve the following objectives:

  • bring scouts and communities together in offering respect and prayer for long live of our king
  • provides every scout to take the ownership of the program in the celebration
  • promote the sense of scouting in the community

The chief guest (Dasho Dzongdag) and guests were received with Chebdrel and the celebration started with performing Thara dewa, offering marchang, zhabten and national anthem and followed by offering of birthday cake to His Majesty.

The cultural items were all presented by scouts. Among many cultural items the scouts have presented the Nubi zhay, Boenchoe Cham, Zhungdra that are most popularly in the Mangde valleys. Scouts had also presented many other items such as mini Olympic, raffle shouting, bamboo Christmas tent and lottery draw among many others.

Interestingly and unique, the lunch for guests and all the participating scouts and communities were served on Phob tora

A day program for the celebration ended with Tashi Labey. However, celebration continued with evening fun program

 

Evening Program

Everybody awaited with excitement for evening fun –bonfire program. Crowd gathered before time and seated with full of eagerness face. Chief guest along with officials from dzongkhag, BSA and cooperatives offices arrived at program venue with full of excitement. The evening fun program started by lighting the bonfire by the chief guest and followed by singing the scout song, Gatro ge May bardo. Different fun items from participating scouts were presented, crowd gathered around for the program held up their mobile phone for photograph-fun and excitement was observed as crowd cheers and sing together. Guests could not sit on their seat as fun music and song goes-so everybody danced and had fun evening.

The last as special as anything, everybody had dinner together like members of a closely bonded family.
