The Climate Change Conference in Marrakech COP22

The participation of the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF MOROCCAN SCOUTING in the Climate Change Conference in Marrakech COP22

On the occasion of Morocco hosting the 22 edition of the Climate Change conference in Marrakech between 7 and 18 November, 2016, NATIONAL FEDERATION OF MOROCCAN SCOUTING ( NFMS ) is participating in the Youth pavilion of the Green Zone of COP22, through a busy stand as well as participation in activities, workshops and a range of meetings.

The Moroccan scouts at COP22 are acting as ambassadors for the scout movement: spreading the word about the exciting projects they are doing on a national level, as well as the activities scouts are doing around the world to protect the environment and to address climate change.

The busy stand is particularly promoting the field activities that the NFMS is doing in developing environmental education. Such as ‘the Scouting Caravan on Environment’ program of the ‘Messengers of Peace’ which is actively sensitising communities across Morocco about the environment, and the ‘Clean Beaches’ project that has transformed many of the beaches of the northern coast of Morocco through community awareness building.

On the agenda to come, the NFMS in collaboration with the World Organization of the Scout Movement in a debate on
1. Principles and aims for environment education in Scouting on Tuesday November 17th, 2016 at 09:00, in the Youth platform (AGORA Youth) in the Green Zone.
2. The contribution of the NFMS in the Operation of "Clean Beaches “ under the theme “Let our beaches smile".

The stand has been a hub of activity over the last week, with information being spread, friends being made, and potential collaborations in sight.
