Community development project- Combat HIV, AIDS,etc..

Day 1: Today' s disease awareness programme was about tuberculosis. We spoke to people about the modes of transmission of the disease, symptoms. We also briefed them about the methods of prevention of the disease mainly being BCG vaccination. March 24 is observed as ANTI-TUBERCULOSIS DAY.
Day 2: Today we spoke about cholera which is spread mainly due to contamination of food, milk, etc.. In the hospital we came across a small child which was suffering from Cholera. She was weak and couldn't even walk. She was given saline water and immediately given anticholera injection.
Day 3: Mumps was the disease that we spoke next. This is a disease marked by a very painful swelling in the neck below the ears, where it affects the parotid glands. The prevention for mumps is vaccination of gamma globulin.
Day 4: Malaria- we decided to chose this as till then we had seen many people suffering from malaria. We spoke to people about the main causes of the disease and how to prevent them.
Day 5: Today we prepared a PPT on the consequences of the following diseases:-
1)AIDS
2)Malaria
3)Polio
4)Typhoid
5)Pnuemonia
6)Tetanus
7)Whooping cough.
Day 6: We visited a government hospital this time to educate the people there.
day 7: Today we all pilled up money each paying Rs.100/- in order to treat a person suffering from cancer. We requested the other patients also to contribute.
Day 8: We distributed food to the patients in the hospital and also played a video game with the children admitted in the hospital- a game to win against diseases.
Day 9: Today was our day-off. We helped the nurses in their job- giving medicines, playing with the children admitted in the hospital etc..
Day 10: Today we thought about educating people about the diseases spread by viruses eg., common cold, flu using PPTs.
Day 11: Today we discussed about the different types of antibiotics used for different types of diseases and the affect of these medicines to the human metabolism.
Day 12: We educated the people how to keep themselves healthy by keeping themselves and their surroundings clean and fresh.
Day 13: Today we discussed about the diseases caused by parasitic worms and other bacterial diseases.
Day 14: Today we visited a park to educate the people about the diseases caused due to throwing of litter here and there.
Day 15:Today we spoke about the different modes of transmission of the diseases and their incubation period.
Day 16, Day 17 & Day 18: On all these days we spoke to people about the causes of AIDS. We depicted the consequences of the diseases and their effect in the society. We used placards. PPTs to spread awareness among the people.
