Scout leaders look into strategies for fundraising
The Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Fundraising concluded yesterday at the Portuguese-inspired landscape of the Scout Association of Macau (SAM) HQ, with 36 participants from 14 countries (including sub-committee members): Australia, Cambodia, Scouts of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
Scout leaders from different national Scout organizations looked into the role that fundraising plays in helping a Scout association through volunteering and long-lasting relationship with supporters and donors.
Participants learned the methods, techniques and tools in putting up good fundraising event.
SAM Chairman of Supervisory Board Mr. Edward Kou inaugurated the workshop, joined by APR Finance Sub-Committee Chairman Joseph Lau, sub-committee members, and SAM leaders led by acting Chief Commissioner and International Commissioner Ms Francisca Vong. Supporting the workshop from the Asia-Pacific Regional Office were Regional Director Mr. J. Rizal C. Pangilinan and Director S Prassanna Shrivastava.
APR Financial Resources Sub-Committee Meeting
The Financial Resources Sub-Committee meeting was held on 6th July presided by Chairman Joseph Lau (Hong Kong), assisted by his two Vice-Chairmen Chay Hong Leng (Singapore) and Susi Yulyati (Indonesia).
The Sub-committee reviewed the action plan of 2012-2015 and identified the work accomplished and tasks ahead. Guidelines on "Code of Ethics on Partnership” and “Updated Financial Rules and Procedures” will be launched soon. The document “Best Practices on Fundraising” is in the pipeline and the sub-committee is currently working on the establishment of APR Scout Supply Chain.
Members present were David Jones (Australia), Kendhoo (Maldives), Dan Asiaten (Philippines), Kapila Perera (Sri Lanka), Shirley Tam (Hong Kong), Ahmad Sabri Bin Saad (Malaysia) and Eilif Wang (Scouts of China).
