Scouting: Contributing Towards Nation-Building

NAMIBIA - The Southern Zone Conference and Youth Forum was successfully held in Windhoek, Namibia under the theme “Scouting: Contributing Towards Nation-Building.” The Youth Forum was held from 28th – 30th April while the Conference ran from 30th April to 3rd May 2014 at the Heja Lodge.

In attendance were over 80 delegates from 6 out the 10 NSOs that comprise the Southern Zone. These were Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Other countries that did not manage to attend but did send an apology and their Conference reports were Malawi, Mozambique, and South Africa. Zambia is currently managing some leadership reorganization and hence is being managed by the Ministry of Youth.

The Regional Director, Mr. Frederic Kama-Kama and Unit Manager, Adult Resource & Training attended the conference.

A Director in the Ministry of Youth officially opened the conference where part of the day was dedicated to the newly introduced WOSM standard (Global support Assessment Tool) that will be used to audit all WOSM members NSOs.
