“Scouts Promoting Non-Violence among the Youth” is a Peace project being implemented by the Scouts of Georgia in the framework of the Messengers of Peace Programme.

The project is targeting youth aged 13-16 years old, to help raise awareness and build capacity of the youth mediators to serve as a positive force that can change the attitude of youth towards all kinds of conflicts and to encourage higher levels of peer support by sharpening children’s knowledge of non-violent conflict resolution, decision-making and dialogue.
Tbilisi Green School organised an art competition, an exhibition and presentations on the topic of Mediation and Conflict Resolution. For a whole week, different materials about violence and conflicts were shown in the school library. Members of the group explained to the visitors, how violence influences the personal development of the youth, what the psychological characteristics of violent people are and how conflicts can be peacefully resolved.

“One great activity we implemented was the “Green box” activity – guests were writing different opinions and casting them into a green box specially dedicated for the messages about conflict and peace, and after one week we opened the box and organised a discussion on the topic” – Ani Burdiladze, member of the youth group reported.
“We informed the school administration, teachers, students and parents about our activities, as a result lots of guests visited our event and took part in our discussions” – Gigi Devdariani, member of the youth group reported.
