Colombo Scout Centenary Jamboree, August 1-7, 2014
Sri Lanka Scout Association will host the Colombo Centenary Scout Jamboree to celebrate the 100 years of Scouting in Colombo in 2014. Scouting in Colombo started in 1914 by Mr M.F.G. Stevens at the 1st Colombo Governor’s Own Scout Group.
Date: 1-7 August 2014
Venue: Ygro Campsite, Madampe, Sri Lanka (1 hour drive from Airport).
Eligibility: The Jamboree is organized for young people both male and female between 12-16 years old. International Service Team (IST) should be above 18 years old and ideally not above 50 years old.
Programme Highlights: Opening and closing ceremonies, iron man challenges, riding, boating, swimming, life skill challenges, adventure park, horse riding, archery, water & beach activities, youth forum, friendship programme, campfires, global village, visits to national heritage sites, International day & Night
Jamboree Fee: US$ 150 –(will include all internal transport, food and lodging, one day sightseeing tour, 3 days home hospitality before or after the Jamboree on prior request)
Visa: SLSA will arrange with the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate visas for all overseas participants. Visa could be obtained online on www.eta.gov.lk
Weather: Sri Lanka is a tropical island in the Asian continent situated in the southern tip of India in the Indian Ocean. It is surrounded with beautiful beaches and meandering rivers. The central part of Sri Lanka is a mountainous region offering cool climate of 15 degrees celsius.
Deadline: Deadline for submission of name list from District Headquarters is April 30 2014.
