Keeping Scouts Safe from Harm

Child and Youth protection is central to all that is done in Scouting, so it is important that this area is continually evaluated and updated.

To help NSOs raise awareness of this important area a paper was put together with useful advice for implementing policies and procedures to keep Scouting members safe.

The aim of the Child and Youth Protection Paper is to:

  • Strengthen the Resolution 2002-07 on Keeping Children Safe from Harm and act as a policy of WOSM.
  • Provide an up-to-date position statement of WOSM on Child and Youth Protection.
  • Support NSOs in implementing national policies and strategies on Child and Youth Protection.

National Scout Organisations are invited to review their position, policies and procedures based on this document to strengthen this area and create a safer environment for children, young people, and adults in Scouting.

The draft version of the Safe from Harm policy will be released soon and a full consultation will be held. Please keep watching, and join in to give your feedback!
