Exciting Scouts of the World Project - Eudoxia Korana
This story was written by Eudoxia Korana, 18 y.o., Rover Scout from Thessaloniki, Greece.
During 2013 - 2014, I had the opportunity of taking part in the “Scout of The World Discovery” and “Scout of the World Voluntary Service” which lasted six months.
The discovery base was on the human impact to the environment. The target was to raise the awareness and develop the understanding about the environmental problems. We learned about the problems that many creatures that live on our beautiful planet, face every day.
Then, I decided to get involved in the "Action for the Wild Life" organization.
This process has helped me to appreciate even more, the incentives and knowledge that one can earn through Scouting and then transfer his knowledge and experiences to the other kids and make an everyday practice for a life.
Additionally having been a student in the Department of Forests and Natural Environment Management in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki I managed to meet new people who work and study on the same area as me and finally become more familiar with wild fauna.
At the same time I feel proud because through the "Scout of the World" program the rovers in our team were able to understand better the environment, work on things related to it and even change their minds about their professional career in the future.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all people of the "Action for the Wild Life" who have created this NGO, stayed the nights awake, offered us hospitality and generously shared with us part of their time and wisdom .We came in touch with exceptional professionals and we took a lesson about life and our common future as creatures inside the natural environment.
