3rd. Course for National Executive Directors and National Chief Commissioners at Interamerica Region
Between September 14 and 20, was held in Mexico the 3rd Course for National Executive Directors and National Chiefs Commissioners, Mexico was the host and there were 20 participants from 16 NSOs of Interamerican Region.
The main objective of this course was to provide tools to those who serve as head of the executive body within their organizations so they in turn replicate what they learned within each of them.
The course started at the Scouts of México Scout Center in Meztitla on Saturday 14, there were simultaneously 3 more events taking place, so being there was an opportunity to share with cubs and scouts adult leaders, as well as rovers that participated in the different events. The rovers were in an activity with the course participants on the afternoon of Saturday 14 and were able to learn about how the NSOs they represent work, what are the duties of an Executive Director or National Chief Commissioner and also to know more about the unique culture of the countries. Then during the night the scouts present at Meztitla enjoyed different bonfires in which the course participants were also present.
On Sunday the sessions of the course began, with the presence of Daniel Corsen, President of the Interamerican Scout Committee and Raúl Sánchez Vaca, Regional Director of the World Scout Bureau - Interamerica Support Centre, who told the participants the way in which the joint work is developed between these two bodies of our region and also answered participants' questions regarding this work.
Later, the course was moved to the Scouts of Mexico headquarters located in Mexico City, where the sessions scheduled between Monday 16 and Friday 20 were held and focused on different topics of interest to NSOs, such us Good Governance, Educational Project, Strategic Planning, Finances at an NSO, Risk Management and Communications, among others counting with facilitators who are experts in those topics and who contributed to increase the quality of the course.
We appreciate the participation of the NSOs of: Dominican Republic, Chile, Bolivia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Honduras, Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Curacao, Argentina, Belize and Mexico, and we hope that the lessons learned from the course will be a valuable contribution for your National Scout Organizations.
