Korea Scout Leaders’ Gathering 2011: a blend of serious business and friendship
Coming from all areas and community-based troops across Korea, 365 Scout leaders met in Incheon for the 2011 Korea Scout Leaders’ Gathering from 25th to 27th February – a gathering that is peppered with series of discussions and colorful events.
The 3-day gathering had several highlights such as the Korea’s annual conference, the bidding preparation for 25th World Scout Jamboree in 2023, night of brotherhood/night of leaders, Scouts of the World Award presentation, reports on the 39th World Scout Conference and the 2011 Korea & Japan Top Leaders Meeting.
The series of talks and small gatherings had a larger goal -- to maintain synergy through better communication among the leaders. Participants expressed that meeting and working with other key leaders strengthen their fellowship and reignite their passion for Scouting.
During the 2011 Korea & Japan Top Leaders Meeting, the two National Scout Organizations vowed to strengthen their bond and to remain cooperative with each other. Taking the opportunity, Korea Scout Association President Dr Kang Young Joong presented the International Friendship Award to Scout Association of Japan Chairman Mr Takayasu Okushima. Also, 13 Rover Scouts were given Scout of the World Award (SWA) for their accomplishments under the SWA programme.
A pleasant breaker was the fashion show by Rover Scouts who modeled Scouting uniforms in an entertaining way, drawing a lot of laughs from the crowd.
