At the 17th Africa Scout Conference, the Africa Scout Committee on the recommendation of the Awards and Honours Sub-Committee has recognized 8 adults and 12 young people who have provided outstanding service to scouting in the region and demonstrated true Scouting spirit.

Africa Elephant Award
The Africa Elephant Award is the highest and only Scout award in the Region granted by the Africa Scout Committee to adult members of the Movement. It is presented to top Scouts and Scouters in recognition of outstanding service to Scouting in Africa. The award recognizes continued support of the growth and development of the Scout Movement in the region.

The recipients of the award during the 17th Africa Scout Conference are:
1. David McKee – United Kingdom
2. Lamine Diawara – Senegal
3. Nicholas Kuhanga – Tanzania
4. Marcel Blaguet – Cote d’Ivoire
5. Prof. Maggie Kigozi – Uganda
6. Viateur Rucyahana – Rwanda
7. Jemima Nartey – Ghana

Africa Scout Award
This is the highest and only award given by the Africa Scout Committee to Scouts from Africa for their exemplary contribution to the cause of Scouting at their local, national and international communities. The award is given in form of a badge and an accompanying certificate of merit.

This triennium’s recipients recognized at the 17th Africa Scout Conference are:
1. Grace Wanja Kamau – Kenya
2. Claudine Niyonzima – Burundi
3. Adoli Latame Komla – Togo
4. Nelson Tamboo – Seychelles
5. Dade Raphael Mahamam Bassirou – Niger
6. Achel Mugisha – Burundi
7. Codjia Koffi Djiedjom – Togo

Messengers of Peace Heroes Award
Messengers of Peace Hero Award is an accolade bestowed by the Government of Saudi Arabia on behalf of His Majesty the King of Saudi Arabia; and administered by the World Scout Bureau with the support of the World Scout Foundation. The Award was first introduced in 2012 to recognize Scouts, volunteers and professionals as heroes in their communities for their outstanding work towards promoting peace and creating a better world through community initiatives. During this triennium, the following have been awarded and were also recognized at the 17th Africa Scout Conference:

1. Jemima Nartemle Nartey, Ghana
2. Hatimou Bako Almoctar, Niger
3. Aster Fiker Asbe, Ethiopia
4. Pauline Kagiri, Kenya
5. Safidy Randriamitantsoa, Madagascar
6. Simon Kevin Baskouda Shelley, Cameroon

Previous MoP Heroes from the region; Nelson Opany from Kenya and Marie Louise from Cote d’Ivoire were also presented with their certificates.
