TAIPEI, Taiwan – A total of eight Scouts from different branches of the General Association of the Scouts of China (Taiwan) gathered on 14 April 2018 for the beginning of their training sessions for the upcoming 9th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Youth Forum.

The participants went through several interactive sessions about the basics of the Scout Youth Forum, the Young Adult Members Group (YAMG), and important points on selecting topics for discussion and managing discussions and conflicts.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Youth Forum provide opportunities for young people in Scouting to express their views and make recommendations on issues of interest to them; and to develop the skills necessary to strengthen their capacity to take part in decision-making processes.

It also provides an opportunity for the World Organization of the Scout Movement – at regional, national and local levels – to listen to the views of young members on issues that concern them, issues that directly affect them.

Youth forums constitute one approach, among many, towards the implementation of the Policy on Involvement of Young Members in Decision-Making, adopted by the 33rd World Scout Conference in 1993.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines will be hosting the 9th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Youth Forum in Manila on October 9 to 12.

With reports from Ms. Belinda Wang, Chairperson of the Young Adult Members Group and Member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee.
