7th National Scout Venture Camp
Venture Camp is a special outdoor educational and recreational event for all Senior Scouts. It is a week-long gathering of teen-age Scouts which aimed to promote active and healthy lifestyle through challenging and exciting physical fitness and obstacle activities in the Land, Sea and Air Scouting specialization skills. It is an amazing fellowship and camaraderie among Senior Scouts to learn together in the spirit of Scout Oath and Law and practice the principle of learning by doing. While a Scout Jamboree is the “mother” of all Scouting events where Scouts from all program sections met, the Venture Camp on the other hand is specifically designed to cater to the needs of young people ages 13 and above. Senior Scouts are very active, dynamic and always on the move. MODULE 1 - SEA SCOUTING Scouting event is not complete without water activities. It creates excitement, fun and unforgettable experience. In this module, Scouts will experience the life of a Sea Scout with various Water Adventure and Water Sports activities such as Basic and Advanced Swimming, Water Tubing, Snorkeling, Improvised Water Rafting, Floatation Devices, Water Safety and Survival and Life Saving. MODULE 2 - LAND SCOUTING LAND Scouting Adventour Module offers a series of High Adventure Activities and Survival Skills. Scouts will undergo basic outdoor skills training, especially on Snares and Traps, Improvised Debris Hut and Shift Shelters, Water Gathering and Improvised Filtration, Fire Lays, Fire Places and Fire Building, Survival Cooking, Backwoods Engineering and Pioneering Projects. The Crew will practice the art of outdoor living, Campcraft and Woodcraft as an Outdoorsman. Experience an Orienteering Course using dial compass, terrestrial navigation, trail signs and forest feature will certainly hone Scouts’ skills for Land Survival. MODULE 3 - AIR SCOUTING Air Scouting Voyage Module challenges the Crews’ Teamwork in building their Aircraft and Airplane Models and Improvised Weather Instruments. Scouts will compete during the Hot Air and Kite Flying contests among participating crews. Scouts will be taught the basics of Civil and Military Aviation, Communications and Aerodynamics, by the Philippine Air Force. This module also includes Signaling, Coding and Decoding Semaphore and Morse Code; Improvised Wind Glider and Wind Sail-AIR cruiser. MODULE 4 - GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT VILLAGE The Global Development Village as viewed by the founder Lord Baden Powell “No man can be called educated who has not a willingness and a desire, as well as a trained ability to do his part in the world’s work.” Since its inception in 1991 in World Scout Jamboree in Korea, as initiated by the World Scouting, GDV has been a prominent feature of Scout Jamborees world-wide. GDV offers a conducive learning environment, a constructive avenue for growth and opportunities to create a positive tide for positive in the communities addressing the Post 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). The purpose of GDV is to help participants better understand the global issues facing today’s world, to discover how Scouts can help make a difference in tackling these issues, and to learn concrete techniques they can use their own communities. GDV is organized by the host Local Council with technical support from the National Office, BSP on program design and implementation. They mutually agree to the holistic concept and objectives of the GDV. GDV addresses global issues facing our planet, this include (1) human rights; (2) public health; (3) peace; (4) environment; and (5) social development. The programme is designed to develop life skills of young people, enabling principles to improve the quality of life in the community, sustainable livelihood, healthier population, clean environment and equitable society. GDV seeks to motivate young people to take appropriate actions through series of inter-active workshops, team games, exhibition and displays, lecture and demonstration and small group discussions about UN-SDGs. MODULE 5 - WOSM BETTER WORLD FRAMEWORK The WOSM Better World Framework as envisioned by the founder himself as “a Universal Brotherhood of service where young citizens, male and female in all countries, are brought up to look upon their neighbors as brothers and sisters in the human family allied together with the common aim of service and sympathetic helpfulness towards each other”. The module provides avenue to learn and understand the role of Scouts as Active Global Citizens Creating a Better World through developing 21st Century Leadership Skills, increasing the level of awareness through Youth Participation, Involvement, Engagement and Empowerment. It includes the Messengers of Peace (MoP) Initiatives, the World Scout Environment Programme (WSEP) and the Scouts of the World Award (SWA) Programme. MODULE 6 - SPORTS FESTIVAL The Sports Festival Module is another fun-filled and wholesome activities intended to develop physical fitness and inculcate active and healthy lifestyle among Senior Scouts. The module offers a series of individual and team sports event for whole day of fun, teamwork, camaraderie and cooperative learning. Scouts must do their duty to keep himself physically strong is of vital importance to Scouting as it offers opportunities to travel, explore and engage in various recreational physical activities that will challenge team work and cooperation. These event include Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Sepak Takraw, Frisbee, Track and Field and Chess. The 7th National Scout Venture Camp Highlights the awarding of the World Scout Environment Badge for a total of 292 Senior Scouts after completing series of projects including the WSEP Aims and Objectives. The BSP's new partnership with the Liter of Light Philippines and Green Peace Southeast Asia led to the successful Scouts Go Solar activities and donation of GD Solar Lighting System and Solar Lamp to 100 less fortunate families at Barangay Malapoc Norte, Maasin City, Province of Southern Leyte as the host and venue of the Venture Camp. The event also convened a Special Scout Youth Forum attended by 79 Senior Scouts representing their respective local councils and be able to discussed and passed several resolutions and recommendations about topics and issues such as Human Rights, Drug Abuse, Bullying, Gender Equality and Youth Empowerment.
