Myanmar Scouts develop registration system as membership grows
Aspiring to become a full-fledged member of WOSM, Myanmar Scouts is holding its Workshop on Membership Registration System from 11 - 14 July 2016 at the capital city of Yangon, with 31 participants from different districts. Since the reintroduction of Scouting in Myanmar in 2012, membership has grown to about 25,000 across the country, with a great potential to increase in the coming years.
Chairman of the Regional Parliament U Tin Maung Htun, who is proud to be a Scout himself, graced the opening ceremony. Regional Director J. Rizal C. Pangilinan shared his knowledge on membership registration based on his long years of experience with Boy Scouts of the Philippines. Myanmar Scouts Chief Commissioner Dr. Tin Nyo acknowledged the presence of APR Scouting Profile Vice-Chairman Mr. Lai Kwok Chin of Singapore who is supporting the workshop citing the registration system and procedures used at Singapore Scout Association.
After Scouting was dissolved in Myanmar, 1964, school-based Scouting in the country was re-introduced in November 2012, under the guidance of Mr Thein Sein, who was then President of the Union of Myanmar.
