2007 is already shaping up to be a special year for all Scouts, past and present, and it is a hope that they will take the opportunity to to celebrate the Movement and to look forward to the future with renewed enthusiasm for all that Scouting can offer.

The 21st World Scout Jamboree will be one of the highlights of the Centenary, with the youth of the world demonstrating in a very practical way, that it is possible for people of every nation, culture and religion to live and work together in peace.

Preparations for the event are going very well with all 155 National Scout Organizations having registered. And thanks to the Operation One World solidarity project, young people who would otherwise be unable to go, are being given the chance to attend the Jamboree.

Many of the partners of World Scouting will also be present, in particular UN Agencies which will showcase their programmes and participate in the Global Development Activities. This key area of the Jamboree aims to enable young people who participate to discover the pricipal development issues that face the world today, to develop a better understanding of those issues and how to contribute to solving them, and to acquire skills that will allow them to react to those issues in their own communities.

In addition to the 40,000 Jamboree participants, 10,000 day visitors are expected on the site each day. So it really is going to be an exciting event!
