Roger M. Schrimp was an admired and respected Scout leader. From a dedicated young Scout, he carried out all his Scouting experience throughout his life and career.

He was an outstanding Scout. An Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of the Arrow, as well as recipient of several of the highest awards given in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) such as the Explorer Silver Award, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo, Award of Merit, and Distinguished Eagle Award.

Until most recently, Roger proudly served as International Commissioner for the BSA since June 2014. He was an advocate for Peace, committed to strengthen the BSA’s participation to the Messengers of Peace, and to World Scouting. He was a devout leader, ensuring to provide a quality Scouting experience for all and serve the young people with excellence.

During his important post at the BSA, Roger actively supported the 2015 World Scout Jamboree in Kirarahama, Japan, and the 2019 World Scout Jamboree to be co-hosted by the BSA, Scouts Canada, and Scouts Mexico at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA.

Among many roles and accomplishments Roger has had in his life and career, he was also known to be a friend to many Scouts and leaders all over the world. “He was my best friend…a mentor, a true gentleman, and someone I looked up to.” shared Scott Teare, Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

In his professional life, Roger was an attorney in Modesto, California. He was very active in his community with membership on numerous Boards and Commissions and he was an advocate on Human Rights as well. Roger was a cattleman and have served on a number of committees of the California Cattlemen’s Association.

Gone home on 10 February 2016, Roger Schrimp will be missed and remembered fondly. The fact that he truly lived the Scouting spirit and throughout his life helped creating a better world for more young people, his memories will live on.

Roger Schrimp has certainly left this world a little better than he found it.

The World Scouting family is one in prayers and sincere condolences to Roger’s dearest loved ones.
