Africa Scout Region Launches Storytelling Contest
The World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre is pleased to invite entries for the inaugural Africa Scout Storytelling Contest, which will run for a period of three months starting on 16th April and closing on 22nd June 2018.
This contest offers the opportunity for Scouts to use their skills in writing, videography, photography, animation, drawing, poetry and graphic design to contribute to this year's theme "Scouts Creating a Better Africa" in celebration of the 110 years of Scouting in Africa.
The contest seeks to highlight the many positive actions (programmes, projects, activities, events, campaigns etc) Scouts in Africa are undertaking to contribute to their development and the improvement of their communities. The contest is open to Scouts, Scout Leaders and other Volunteers serving Scouting in different capacities in National Scout Organizations (NSO) within the Africa Scout Region.
As much as the contest targets Africans, Scouts, Scout leaders and other Volunteers from around the world can also to submit their entries, on condition that the contents of their submission must depict African Scouts and must have either been created in Africa or at a world, regional or national Scout event.
We look forward to receiving entries capturing Scouts in action on thematic areas such as sustainable development goals, social impact, food security, environmental conservation, community service, diversity and inclusion, creativity and innovation, values and life skills, humanitarian action, peace and dialogue.
All entries should be submitted to the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre not later than 22 June 2018 by email to africa@scout.org. Due to the high number of entries we may not be able to acknowledge receipt of all entries. Winning entries will be required to submit the raw files after the announcement of winners. Selection of entries will be done by a panel of judges drawn from staff and volunteers within World Scouting.
Winners will be announced on 1st August 2018.
