Africa Scout Moot 2022

The 17th Africa Scout Conference held in Harare, Zimbabwe in September 2018 passed a resolution on promoting, growth, development and visibility of Rover Scouting in Africa which among others approved the establishment of the Africa Scout Moot as a periodic event for Rover Scouts in Africa.

To kick-start the implementation process, the World Scout Bureau, Africa Support Centre appointed a taskforce to conceptualize the event and make receommendations for implementation. The taskforce handed over it's report to the Regional Director in Octobere 2019.

A Scout Moot is a gathering of members of National Scout Associations belonging to the branch/section of Rovers. Moots allow young adults to meet to strengthen their international understanding as citizens of the world. A World Rover Moot is organized every four years by the World Organization of the Scout Movement; and the aim of an Africa Scout Moot is to achieve a scalable version of the world event, enabling further participation from the region.

The Africa Scout Moot is an opportunity to develop Scouting in Africa, promote good practices and improve the quality of Scouting in all countries, boost the image of Scouting in Africa, develop and equip young Africans with knoweledeg and skills that are relevant to modern society, through the Scout Method.

On 21 December 2019, Circular No. ASR-10-2019 was realeased by the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre calling for National Scout Organizations (NSOs) to bid to host the 1st Africa Scout Moot in 2022 at a date and place to be determined.
