Taking Action for the SDGs? Tell us about it

Scouting in Africa has launched of a regional campaign named Africa SDGs Oven that will be a catalyst of commitment and action for the Scouts to implement and adopt SDGs in their day to day activities. The Africa SDGs Oven campaign starts on 9th September 2019 and will culminate on 25 October 2019.

 

The award seeks to acknowledge and recognize efforts by Scouts, Scout groups, partnerships and NSOs initiatives to integrate the SDGs, highlight good practices and promote SDGs at all levels of Scouting. Are you up for the challenge? Let’s Make It Happen for the #AfricaSDGsOven

 

Wo is eligible to be awarded.

  • Scouts between the ages of 14 and 26
  • Scout groups
  • Partnerships and NSO initiatives

 

Awardees are selected based on the following criteria

Youth Programme activities, projects, Better World Framework initiatives, service actions achieving the SDGs through the following categories:

 

1. Awareness

Educating, training and enabling young people with the tools and information to develop key sustainable development competencies, while also building the capacity of NSOs to offer quality non-formal educational experiences to Scouts.

 

2. Advocacy

Encouraging more young people to actively advocate for the achievement of the SDGs by mobilizing their networks to this cause and also acknowledge the effort made by National Scout Organizations putting in effort to achieve the SDGs.

 

3. Action

Encouraging young people with competencies for the SDGs that create local actions connected to the SDGs through community service and development projects that are implemented as part of the Youth Programme and Scout initiatives within the Better World Framework.

 

The work must have taken place in the last 24 months, or be ongoing

 

The final decision on the award will be made by a Selection Panel consisting of a member of the Africa Scout Committee, a Africa Youth Advisor to the Africa Scout Committee, two staff of the Africa Support Centre and a staff from the Global Support Centre responsible for SDGs and any other person who may be invited to be part of the Selection Panel.
