UN Women
Diversity and Inclusion is one of World Scouting’s strategic pillars and has an important role in making Scouting open to all and truly reflective of the communities we serve.
In 2017, at the 41st World Scout Conference held in Baku, Azerbaijan, World Scouting and UN Women signed an agreement to accelerate action towards gender equality through the HeForShe campaign. The partnership aims to raise awareness and inspire young people to become agents of change and take action for gender equality.
HeForShe and World Scouting worked together to develop the HeForShe Action Kit for Scout Leaders to use to inspire young people, providing crucial information about gender equality and inviting them to take action for a gender equal world.
Areas of cooperation
- Gender equality
- Women and girl’s empowerment
- Inspiration of young people through the HeForShe campaign
How NSOs can benefit
NSOs are encouraged to implement the HeForShe Action Kit in their local groups to encourage gender equality education among Scouts.
