UN Environment
Environmental protection is ingrained in the Scout Movement, UN Environment and World Scouting have long been working together to enable young people to create a better world by protecting our planet.
WOSM and UN Environment’s working relationship dates back to as early as 1990 when the two organisations developed and published “Scouting: Action for the Environment” and then worked together again to launch the World Scout Environment Programme (WSEP) in 2008.
At the 10-year anniversary of the WSEP in 2018, WOSM and UN Environment renewed their partnership to review environmental education in Scouting and accelerate action against plastic pollution, climate change, and other threats to our environment. As a key partner in the Earth Tribe, UN Environment has also worked with Scouting through the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge and the Clean Seas Campaign.
