Bronze Wolf - Brigitte Therivel

Brigitte Therivel joined the Boy Scouts of America as a leader in 1982. Brigitte Therivel is what could be called an “unsung hero” – always on the frontline of an operation but never seeking credit or recognition for her contributions. Brigitte has the Woodbadge and has staffed BSA Woodbadge courses, serving as a course director in 1995 (the first female in her council to have held this position).

Brigitte has a vast International Scouting knowledge and a rich leadership experience which she pro-actively shares with others. Brigitte serves as an International Ambassador for the BSA – one of only two such persons named to this significant role.

Brigitte’s enthusiasm for World Scouting has familiarised with WOSM, many scouts and Leaders in BSA who did not know about it before. Brigitte speaks German, Italian and French, besides English, and helps as interpreter and translator at the National, Regional and International level.
Her involvement in the planning of the InterAmerican Region’s Leadership Training (ILT) program is an outstanding gift to World Scouting. She helped with the syllabus as well as nearly all aspects of the event itself. It is well documented that there has been no event in the InterAmerican Region’s history that has had a greater, positive impact on its member NSOs.

Brigitte’s services to World Scout Jamborees, World Scout Conferences, Regional Conferences and countless young people is unmeasurable. She has the positive energy of those half her age!

Brigitte has served on the staff of six BSA National Scout Jamborees, on the staff for the three past World Scout Jamborees and has attended six Regional and World Scout conferences with the BSA. She has translated speeches, news releases, and interpreted at the jamboree hospital. She has assisted with the BSA and Scout Association of Japan’s Friendship Program, and the 2015 Vietnamese Jamboree hosted in her local BSA Council.

She truly embraces World Scouting as a way of life and considers all scouts as her brothers and sisters. Her positive attitude, constant enthusiasm and energy, and her intuitive friendly approach to all makes her a welcomed mentor and resource. She inspires others with her example and know-how and helps them reach higher and give more, without claiming the limelight for herself.
