The 5th World Scout Interreligious Symposium (WSIS) will be held from the 27th to 29th of January 2017 at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York. The theme of this symposium is "Duty to God ... Duty to Scouting".
The agenda of the Symposium will focus on the following topics:
• Duty to God
• Interreligious Dialogue in Youth Programme
• Spiritual Development / Religion and Spirituality
• Youth Programme and Diversity
It is organised by members of the Boy Scouts of America's Religious Relationships Committee and the Interreligious Forum of World Scouting (IFoWS, an informal network of religious groups/organisations in Scouting), and is supported by the World Scout Bureau.
We welcome participants with an interest in interreligious dialogue and with spiritual and religious aspects of Scouting, and those concerned with growing Scouting among religious communities. All participants need to be approved by their National Scout Organisations.
Registration and Fees
The registration fee for the symposium is 250 USD, and will cover accommodation (3 nights) and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
In addition to the Symposium, there will also be a dialogue training delivered by KAICIID (King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Dialogue) during the two days prior to the Symposium (25-26 January 2017). This dialogue training is open to any participant of the Symposium, but is limited to a total of 40 participants.
The registration fee for attending the training and the Symposium is 350 USD (includes accommodation 5 nights, and meals).
All fees will be paid via bank transfer. Bank details will be provided at the end of the registration.
