“Scouting for a positive change” The countdown begins! About 3000 young people from across the globe have already marked July 28th to August 5th 2012 in their Scout diaries, as the day when they will assemble in Burundi, in Bungere, at the National Training Centre of the Association of the Scouts of Burundi for the 6th Africa Scout Jamboree. A good number of potential participants are already sending their registration forms to Burundi.

While offer still lasts… 27th March 2012 is the magical date!
The early registration, to the biggest youth gathering in Burundi, has been promoted by the host country so as to offer a discount to those who meet the deadline of 27th March 2012. Otherwise, should you register between 1st April and 31st May 2012, you will pay: 150,000 BIF for Burundians, 150 USD for Africans and 500 USD for the rest of the world.

Come and marvel at the beautiful heart of Africa!
Burundi’s beautiful, green and undulating landscape embraces the horizon in a way that may make you fall in love with the country at first sight. The heart of Africa, as it is fondly nicknamed, is an East African country, with a population of about 6 Million people and a surface area of 27,134 square kilometers.

Nothing will be left to chance
Like many countries in Africa and beyond, Burundi has had a “not-so-rosy” past. With this in mind, the organizers are leaving nothing to chance in a bid to deliver the safest and best organized Jamboree in the history of regional jamborees.
Practically speaking, the host has already conducted a “litmus test” by successfully organizing a pre-jamboree event from 26th December 2011 to 2nd January 2012 at the actual jamboree site. The event – that brought together African and European Scouts – was held without any incident. Nevertheless, through this “dry-run” some key lessons were learnt that will go a long way in ensuring the 6th Africa Jamboree is an experience of a lifetime through an appetizing array of fun and adventure activities.

“The Government of Burundi has fully engaged itself so as to ensure that the preparation of this important and large-scale event be a success. Arrangements were made to facilitate visa acquisition, local transport and to offer security services to participants”, assured Corneille Ntawurutimana, the Director General, Ministry of Youth and Sports.
