Strengthening of Trainers and Adult Resources

Designed to strengthen the regional cooperation among Training Commissioners and Adult Leaders and to review the importance of their role in managing adult resources at all levels, the Scouts of China hosted the Gathering of National Training Commissioners from 8th to 9th June 2008 and APR Seminar on Adult Resources Management from 10th to 13th on the same month in Taipei, Taiwan.

The NTC gathered nine National Scout Organizations, namely, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore and the Scouts of China while the Seminar on Adult Resources Management had 38 participants this time from 10 NSOs adding Thailand in the list of countries participated in NTC gathering.

Both events clearly revealed the importance the role that the Volunteers, Adult Leaders and Trainers play for the Scout Movement. As expressed by Chief Commissioner Dr. Chao Shou-Po, although the focus of the Movement always be on the young people well-trained and well-oriented adult leaders build better Scouting.

In addition to Seminar Director Mr Huang Keh-Jen, key resource persons were Ms Reiko Suzuki, Ms Kirsty Brown, Dr Mak Wai Ming, Dr Evelina M Vicencio and Mr Thian Hiong-Boon of the APR office.
