Scouting is open to all and built on friendship, and by being involved in the Movement and working as a team, cultural differences are appreciated rather than dividing young people. Both adults and youth benefit from learning about each other and their unique backgrounds. What’s most important in Scouting is what the children have in common – a love of the outdoors and helping others as they grow and learn!
"All different, All equal" is the call of the Council of Europe for Diversity, Human Rights and Participation.
In 1995 – 50 years after the end of World War II – the Council of Europe ran a European Youth Campaign entitled “All Different – All Equal” in order to reinforce the fight against racism, anti-Semitism, Xenophobia and Intolerance. Nevertheless the struggle – 10 years afterwards – still goes on. For this reason, since June 2006, the Council of Europe has reactivated the Campaign, aimed more particularly at young people.
The World Scientific Congress took place in Geneva on 16 and 17 November 2007. Over 200 contributors and participants, from more than 45 different countries debated, exchanged ideas and worked to build an agenda for change in Scouting and non-formal education.
A Youth Event has taken place in Geneva from 14-15 November. as a preamble to the World Scientific Congress, bringing together 30 young people representing Scouting and several of its fellow youth organisations. With generous support from the Council of Europe, the aim of the event was for the young delegates to start tackling the issues on the agenda during the World Scientific Congress, on November 16 and 17, in an interactive and enjoyable manner.
Remembrance Day is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war. It is observed on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, when, in 1918 World War I finally ended after four years of bitter and devastating fighting.

The weekend of the 20-21 October marked the 50th Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and the 11th Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI), the largest annual World Scouting event to take place. This year, with a new registration system in place, which was available in 13 languages, the number of participants increased in 2007 and involved Scouts in 130 countries.
Prince and Princess Akishino graced the opening ceremony of the 22nd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference held at the National Youth Center in Yoyogi, Tokyo, Japan on 18 October 2007.
19 October 2007: The Board of the World Scout Foundation regrets to announce the passing away today of its former Chairman, and long-time member, Sven Erik Ragnar of Sweden.
Since the beginning of the Clean Up the World campaign 15 years ago, Scouts have been actively getting out in their local communities and cleaning up their environment. This has included collecting many bags of litter, conducting educational campaigns, tree planting and other environmental projects. The 3rd weekend in September is celebrated as the Clean Up the World Weekend during which a wide variety of environmental activities are undertaken by millions of volunteers around the globe, though activities are conducted year round, depending on the local needs.
